Dear Colleagues:

Greetings from PMEA!! We hope you have had a spectacular school year, filled with the joy of music! As you prepare for a relaxing and refreshing summer, find time to dwell on the successes that you and your students have accomplished throughout the 07-08 school year!

It has been an exciting year for our talented young musicians in the Bucks and Montgomery County schools! Many opportunities were made possible by our wonderful and gracious fest and festival hosts, and I'd like to offer my public thanks once again for the willingness to share their time and facilities. BRAVO!

There are two members of the Executive Committee that will be moving on, and I'd like to personally thank them for their loyalty and support of music education. Howard Baxter and Joyce Magann have served PMEA District 11 in many positive ways and they will be missed. As outgoing president, I would also like to thank John Herlihy and the remaining members of the D-11 Board in advance for their continued dedication and wish them the best of luck.

Ordinarily, there is a great deal of information that is sent to our members in this newsletter. However, as we endeavor to improve the lines of communication, we will maintain www.pmea11.org as a valuable resource where you can access the following information:

1. Executive Board contact information
2. Curriculum and Instruction news and committee contact information
3. Professional Development Conference information
4. Calendar of events for Acceptance Auditions, Fests, and Festivals
5. Extended calendar for future PMEA events
6. Acceptance Audition Repertoire list and audition requirements
7. Fest and Festival Host contact information

Additionally, you should regularly check the on the www.pmea.net website for information from the state office including membership, advocacy, Citation of Excellence Award information and nomination forms, and 2008 Summer Conference information.

Please stay involved in PMEA. As music educators, we continue to grow professionally as more than individuals. The collegial support of each other makes us wiser, stronger, and more educationally significant every year. If you have a suggestion, concern or complaint, tell me or the executive committee. If you have a compliment or success story, TELL THE WORLD!

I'd like to thank everyone that has helped me during my two years as president. It has been rewarding and I hope I have served you well. Finally, on behalf of the entire PMEA District 11 Executive Committee, I’d like to wish you a pleasant, relaxing summer. Enjoy your time with family, friends, and great music!

Sincerely,
Bret Mascaro
(Outgoing) President, PMEA D-11
